Still recovering from all the swooning after the MLP Season 2 finale -- that was one of the most amazing things I've seen in my life, and that's including anime too. Great job, y'all!
Must resist the urge to make a Chrysalis paper plushie,... have to stick to schedule...! ^-^
In any event, here's the first batch of prototypes for my parasprite paper plushies. They'll be low-tier cost items similar to accessories, although these can be purchased in a set for an even lower cost. ^^
The blue one in the upper left hand corner was the first, and has a near-perfect globe-shape that makes it easier to stand up on its own, but sadly uses more material and has an easily-deformed face.
#2 to its left has a flatter body with a cuter face, but with a double-layer frilled wing that's still time and resource heavy (plus maybe a tad bit untidy).
#3 in the center uses a different colour and has a single-layer frilled wing, but still seems a bit untidy.
#4 is the first to experiment with a different neater wing-style. The results are petty, but take too long to realize, plus the ink used for the veins can smudge off.
#5 in the lower left-hand corner uses a hybrid wing approach, combine a full overlay with a frilled edge. This makes the wing design neater and elegant, while also allowing a proper surface for the ink to stick too. Combine that with the right body shape, and this will probably be the go-to design for all the other parasprites.
They're actually the last of their kind, so treasure these cuties well. From now on, all future piņatas are gonna be of the small size variants, to fit with the petite paper plushie theme.
The older piņatas did use a reinforced cardboard base, yes.
The newer petite paper plushies are perhaps closer to true papercrafts, as they use 110lb cardstock as their base. It ensures that they're light and easy to cut, yet sufficiently strong enough to take a light pounding or squeezing (especially when filled with candy). ^^

I got a spell that will stop them in there tracks if they get loose.
It's a bright ball of light that floats in the air and zaps anything that touches it.
Like a bug zapper, but made of magic.
Musical instruments, polka, and some hungry timber wolves to "dispose" of them in the Everfree Forest sounds a lot neater. :3
