This is a wallpaper based off the banner based off the new mailing list that is based on Ubunchu that is a manga based on Ubuntu Linux which is based off of.... oh, you get the idea...
But yes, provided another AWESOME quick sketch on the mailing list that I suggested could make for a really cool banner. So I set about vectorizing the drawing, so not only would it be finished, colored and inked, but it could also be scaled to any purpose (such as, in this case, a wallpaper). ^___^b
Very straightforward depiction of the lovable Ubunchu characters: Risa, Akane and Masato. What makes this Inkscape illustration unique for me was the extensive use of the calligraphy tool for variable-width lining. Though this nearly doubled the drawing time, the result is an image much closer to a natural drawing style than what I usually gain from thin-lining. Masato is almost exclusively drawn with the calligraphy tool, whereas Risa and Akane have a special "lineart overlay" that simply compliments the standard vector strokes.

The variable width lines are quite nice, and I like their expressions; my only slight qualm might be Masato's left iris placement (and even that might be for comic effect)

So how to put it on the website? format down to a banner or keep it square on a special page?
My idea was to format this as a banner, so you'd have large text on the left, and the characters on the right.
Although I guess it can also be square-shaped, with large text on top and characters on the bottom (or foreground).
Scalibility is the beauty of vector, IMHO. ^^
